Chief Operating Officer (Full-Time)
Location: Remote (US)
Role Overview: Lead Closegap's operational excellence and prepare the organization for rapid expansion as we transform K-12 mental health support nationwide. Partner with the CEO to build robust systems, strengthen governance, and scale our impact.
Key Responsibilities:
Organizational Leadership & Strategy
Partner with CEO on strategic initiatives and special projects
Build and optimize core operations systems
Develop a scalable team structure
Create a performance management framework
Lead cross-functional projects
Plan team offsites (agenda and content) and coordinate logistics (travel, accommodation, etc)
Help prepare fundraising materials and presentations
Manage relationships with institutional funders
Board & Governance
Work alongside the CEO to develop the board of directors
Lead board chair search process
Prepare board presentations and materials
Manage legal compliance and privacy policies
Monitor relevant state/federal legislation
Oversee annual filings and tax compliance
Manage student data privacy agreements
Financial Management
Oversee monthly bookkeeping
Manage accounts receivable
Prepare financial statements
Optimize resource allocation
Work with tax professionals
Develop financial forecasting
Operations & Systems
Build hiring and onboarding systems
Create scalable team processes
Lead team meetings and follow-up
Implement project management systems
Manage vendor relationships
Improve fundraising systems and processes
Create donor reporting frameworks
Support grant reporting and compliance
Research & Impact
Coordinate and own research partnerships
Build impact measurement systems
Track and report impact metrics
Develop compelling impact metrics
Create data visualization for donors and other
Requirements:
7+ years of operations leadership experience
Experience scaling organizations
Strong financial management skills
Experience with board development
Knowledge of education/mental healthcare compliance
Track record of building systems/processes
Excellence in project management
Success in board development and governance
Experience managing complex financial systems
Proven ability to build and optimize team processes

Compensation & Benefits:
$150,000 - $180,000 annual salary
