Box-Breathing

This SEL intervention is all about calming the nervous system. We invite students to focus on their breath. Then we invite students to inhale for a count of 5, hold for a count of 5, exhale for a count of 5, and hold for a count of 5. You can imagine a box in your mind with each side being 5 counts. This is an excellent activity for students who are feeling worried, panicked, overwhelmed, or for those who may need a tool for concentration. We highly recommend adults learn this one, too!
