Journaling

In this activity, we invite students to vent! We encourage students to start writing - no spell-check, no judgments, no stopping. This is a favorite of older students. It provides them an opportunity to get all of their thoughts, ideas, and feelings out in one big, uncontrolled push, and we’ve found that they get A LOT out of it.

This trauma-informed SEL intervention is based on research that shows that journaling improves mood, sense of wellbeing, and can reduce avoidance and intrusion behaviors for students with a history of trauma or current adversity.
